Abbey Hill is an Ofsted-Rated GOOD school; we are “A gem of a school!” here in the heart of Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Pupils can begin from the age of 2, in our Pre-School provision.

Our school vision is “Achieving our Dreams Together,” and we have 4 values which our whole-school community brought together:

We all carry an AMBITION to be the best that we can be, individually and together

We take PRIDE in being Abbeyhillians, which is our identity.

We live out KINDNESS

We grow and learn together with RESILIENCE.

We are proud of our happy, friendly school and of the children and families who make up our Abbeyhillian community. It is our aim to make sure children are cared for, nurtured and respected and to be a school where each and every child can thrive, personally and academically. We believe that everyone in school should enjoy their learning, feel proud of their achievements and have their lives and learning enriched by a high-quality education, opportunity and adventure.

At Abbey Hill we want to make sure children are in the right place socially and emotionally so they are ready achieve every day. This is a relational school, where our practice is underpinned by a relational approach. Pupil voice is listened to. Our curriculum starts with children learning about themselves, their lives and their family and broadens out to learning about the local community, the country and the wider world. We enrich our curriculum with opportunities to apply our skills and talents including publishing books, setting up our own businesses and being an active part of our community.

As a school community we believe that children learn and grow when everyone comes together – children, parents, staff, governors and the local community. We really value the relationship we have with our parents and the way they support their children.
